Not far from Marija Bistrica, on the road to Zlatar Bistrica, with a garden hidden from view, is this beautiful castle where the Hellenbach family lives. It is one of the few castles in the Croatian Zagorje and Croatia, where it has managed to maintain the continuity of life and completely preserve the interior as it was in the last century.
The garden around the castle was created after the construction of the castle, around the middle of the 19th century. The classicist conception is recognized by the symmetrical composition of the park space. Maria Bistrica was owned by Count Peter Sermage around 1786. The marriage became the property of the Count Keglević and then the Count Jelačić de Bužim. In 1851, the marriage of Barons Lazar Hellenbach and Klotilde Jelačić to Marija Bistrica became the property of Baron Hellenbach, whose family still lives in the castle. The castle is privately owned.
