In the very heart of Radoboj lies the Hiža vinove loze (House of the Vine) – an interpretation centre dedicated to the grapevine, one of the most important symbols of the Zagorje region. It was here that a fossilised grapevine leaf more than 12 million years old was discovered, the oldest known find of its kind in Europe, and a replica of this remarkable fossil is displayed in the centre.
The centre brings together science, tradition and a modern visitor experience through a multimedia and interactive exhibition exploring the history of viticulture, local customs and indigenous grape varieties. A special highlight is the VR experience, which takes visitors on the journey of a single grape – from the vineyard to the glass of wine.
Hiža vinove loze is a place where natural heritage, winemaking tradition and the authentic spirit of Zagorje come together.
