HAUSTA – A Forest Edge Retreat

“Hausta” is a local word for forest – and it is the forest that gives this home its unique character.

Nestled in the picturesque town of Pregrada, in the heart of Croatia’s Zagorje region, just 80 kilometres from Zagreb and close to the Slovenian border, HAUSTA sits on the very edge of a tranquil woodland. Surrounded by nature and tucked away in one of the town’s most peaceful locations, it offers complete privacy, serenity, and the rare kind of silence broken only by birdsong and the sounds of the forest.

The house comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests (8 + 2) and features a spacious open-plan living area, four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and an additional guest toilet. Two covered terraces, a heated 40 m² swimming pool with sun loungers, a covered barbecue area, and a large fenced garden create the perfect setting for relaxation in complete privacy.

Pets are welcome, and ample private parking is available on the property.

The surrounding area invites you to discover the castles and manor houses of Zagorje, enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, or simply slow down and embrace the peaceful rhythm of nature.

Here, your mornings begin not with traffic, but with birdsong. If you rise early enough, you may even catch a glimpse of a roe deer quietly emerging from the forest before disappearing back into the trees.

The estate extends across more than 5,000 square metres of landscaped grounds that have been lovingly shaped over the years. Towering silver pines form a natural border between the house and the forest, while the lower part of the property gently descends through an orchard where, during the season, guests are welcome to pick fresh fruit straight from the trees.

As evening falls, the forest takes centre stage once again. Bathed in moonlight, it becomes almost magical. On warm June nights, fireflies dance across the garden, transforming it into a quiet, shimmering landscape.

HAUSTA is more than a holiday home. It is a place that reminds us life is measured not by the things we own, but by the moments we remember.
